The Hanomag Kurier was a little sensation when introduced in November, 1958. This little truck had no long bonnet like its predecessor L 28 or its rival built by Opel or Borgward and was built in front steer configuration. The all steel cabin offered sufficient space for three passengers and excellent all round visibility. The interior nearly reached passenger car standard, too. One highlight of the chassis was the independent front wheel suspension.
Another advantage of this truck designed mostly for city deliveries was a shorter overall length compared with its predecessors, yet it offered identical loading space. On the engine side, there were only few news as the reliable 4-cylinder diesel engine had been taken over from the L 28.
A lot of variants of the Hanomag Kurier were developed until it was replaced by the F-series in 1967. Some of them offering higher gross weights were called Garant or Markant then.
